William Henry Van Pelt III, founder of The Mid-Continent Companies, ranked among the most accomplished business advisors in the United States and built a 50-year track record of professional success.

In 1983, he acquired John M. Shannon & Associates, a Chicago-based specialty tax-planning firm founded in 1963, and rebranded it as The Mid-Continent Companies. Moving to Houston in the 1980s, he established control of Capital Financial Group, Inc., expanding both capabilities and client reach. Over time, Bill welcomed his sons William IV and Patrick, as well as his daughter and son-in-law, into the family-based practice, broadening the services offered from financial planning to real estate management.

Today

Mid-Continent continues as a family-led enterprise with a seasoned team of professionals. The firm serves clients through its licensed insurance agency and affiliated entities, emphasizing long-term relationships, confidentiality, and stewardship. Headquartered in Houston, The Mid-Continent Companies maintains a strong presence in major markets across the United States.
